Professor Snape: Victim or Villain?

Although the Harry Potter series has ended, people still argue whether Snape is purely evil or a good guy with a disturbing past. The question is: is it love or hate?
VICTIM:
At school, Snape was constantly bullied. A childhood of mockery, torture and abuse would obviously damage your confidence like stamping on a raw egg as hard as possible with the soles of both feet... you would never be the same.
A lot of people hate him, leading to isolation, and you've got to admit, this would make you want to crush everybody's souls.
Another life ruining event is that Snape loved Lily (Harry's Mum) ever since they were children, and obviously Lily and Harry's Dad, James, died. If you didn't know that then you clearly don't know anything about Harry Potter because this is the whole point of the story.
This would clearly make you hate ALL of humanity... RIIIGGGHHHTTT?
So, don't act horrible to someone because you hate them, they might take their anger out on you.
VILLAIN:
Although he has endured a heinous past, it's still not acceptable to be horrible to everyone else. The poor professor has a few villainous traits such as: maliciousness, strictness, obsessiveness. Yes...this all sounds bad, but we can all admit that he became a death-eater, gained Voldemort's trust and then DIED to save all who lives in the Wizarding World.
He went through all of this and you still label him as a villain?
All of you people...WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!!!
